Laparoscopic Anatomy

Most of us have seen diagrams of our internal anatomy, but don't quite know how everything really fits together. The photos in this section were taken through a laparoscope and illustrate everything from the diaphragm to the stomach, and the uterus to the Fallopian tubes.

During laparoscopic surgery, the abdominal and pelvic anatomy can be surveyed thoroughly for causes of different diseases. A laparoscope amplifies the anatomy and projects it on a monitor, allowing the surgeon to more easily identify anatomical issues and avoid misdiagnosis.
