  • Business Week Magazine

  • Leadership of SLS

  • Two Awards

Dear patients and fellow physicians,

The Drs. Nezhat and their advancements in both surgery and surgical education have been recognized in several different arenas this month. Read on for the details.

Drs. Nezhat and Laparoscopic Surgery Profiled in Business Week Magazine
The September 27, 2004 issue of Business Week Magazine features an article entitled "Women's Surgery: Less of an Ordeal," which profiles Drs. Nezhat. The article includes the doctors' pioneering work in minimally invasive surgery and offers tips on how to choose a physician and what to ask when you've got one. See the article on newsstands this week.

This recognition confirms what patients of the Drs. Nezhat already know-that they are in excellent hands for their medical needs. What they might not yet know is that the doctors are now using robots in surgery in situations where it helps them to offer better care. Robots are very useful when the doctors need a three-dimensional view of the abdomen and pelvis or when suturing is difficult for human hands.

Dr. Camran Nezhat Assumes Leadership of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons
After two years on the Board of Directors, Dr. Camran Nezhat has been elected president of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) for the upcoming year. The society's reach is global, and its mission is to improve patient care and promote the highest standards of practice through education, training, and information distribution. Dr. Nezhat has been a member of the SLS since its inception.

American Society of Reproductive Medicine Grants Drs. Nezhat Two Awards
Drs. Nezhat will be the honored recipients of two awards for academic achievement at the 60th annual meeting of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) in Philadelphia. The meeting runs October 16 - 20, 2004, and will feature plenary sessions on the latest findings in reproductive medicine, as well as poster presenters, an exhibit hall, and a variety of activities.
